Thanks for the reply. No, I wasn’t seeking a correction. And I understand this is the image Amazon put out to advertise the Kindle Touch. If I were writing this post, I would’ve just probably added a line to clarify authorship of the book being shown on the device. That’s all. (In full disclosure, Paula is a good friend. I am in the acknowledgements of the Paris WIfe.)
Thank you for this very helpful website. We are trying to get all our ducks in a row to publish our new book by May 2012. This process is a bit confusing and you have helped me a lot on this. I was dissapointed to see how much droid and apple apps are to create. This was going to be a critical step in jumping ahead. We have our blog and hitting 60,000 hits a month since Jan 2012 so I think we have a good base for our new book on relationships. Professor Thomas Nagle has been trying to get this book together for 15 years lol. Visit us on tipsforlove.net Thank you so much for writing this. What do you think? Is 60,000 hits a month on a blog good enough to publish? I have not paid for advertising but instead used facebook and twitter to market this idea?

Free is a marketing strategy, in the same way that offering samples of cheese or wine in shops helps people to discover new tastes, so they might go on to buy the rest of the product. It's very useful when you have a series, as it can lead people into buying the rest of the books. If you want to make a book permafree, then you need to price it for $0 on stores that allow this: Kobo, iBooks, Smashwords, Draft2Digital, and then wait for Amazon to price match to $0.

I’ve only published short documents (crochet patterns) on the Kindle Platform, but really want to write and publish an ebook. This article will help get me started. I also need to look into the Kindle Select program more deeply. I remember when it was announced, but didn’t pay too much attention to it because I didn’t want to give my patterns away for free. But 5 free days over a 90-day period isn’t bad at all, and the potential to earn via the lending library has really got me interested. Thanks for sharing.
It contains books starting from computer, architecture, astrology, fiction, history, and 90 more genres as well. You can select your books by choosing genres or get a catalog for selecting your books. It has another cool feature which is not available in any of the torrent sites. You can register and becomes a member on this website but is not a mandatory thing. You can visit this torrent site by clicking this link. [http://freebookspot.es/]

You have about three months to promote a new print book (paper back or hardcover) before the bookstores clear their shelves for the next bestseller. But if you can rack up enough pre-orders BEFORE the pub date, then you can kickstart your book launch. Once it hits the New York Times or other lists, then a couple of weeks on those lists become a self-fulfilling prophecy. Again: the more time you give your book to be listed on Amazon and other online retailers BEFORE your publication date, the better.
The website of ebookee is again another torrent website centering a huge collection of e-books with a well-distributed category as for example, books on tech, tutorials, non-fiction, novels, computer programming, mathematics, windows, medicine, etc. What is most unique about this website is its system of sub-categories that makes it really easy to choose a book related to what you want.
2. Designer’s cost varies depending on what you want. You don’t have to pay an extravagant price. Also note, the cover doesn’t have to be extravagant. It has to be clear. Simple. Attractive. Sends the right message about what your book is going to be about. I would recommend a dear friend of mine who is both fair in pricing and excellent in her work. Her website is http://doublestopdesign.com/
As one of the largest online sources for eBooks, Amazon has a large self-publishing arm with Kindle Direct Publishing. The platform allows you to publish your business eBook on the Amazon Kindle Store, which makes them available on Kindle devices and Kindle apps for iOS, Android and more. Self-publishing is free and you can earn up to 70 percent royalties on sales.

However, at times it gets blocked in many countries and running it through the proxy, as it is the only option you get left with. I decided to include this site on the list because you can search for almost anything, as it gives a list of many torrent sites that has the searched item. So there is a real passivity that you will find the EBook you’re searching.
Payhip is an e-commerce website that offers you to sell any type of downloadable digital material, including ebooks. You create a customizable sales page on Payhip for free and it gives you the tools to sell your product, such as discount coupons, share buttons, affiliate program and flexible pricing options. Payhip will simply keep 5% of all the sales you make – simple right?
Other features: KDP Select allows you to take a 90-day exclusive digital distribution deal — in return, you’ll get your books available in the Kindle Lending Library, where Amazon Prime members can “check out” their books for free with no due dates. (You get paid royalties for every book borrowed.) You can also choose between Kindle Countdown Deals or a free book promotion.
1337X is another best torrent site for download ebooks. If you are looking for Ebook torrents then 1337X is ebook share torrent site. 1337X is a peer to peer torrenting website which works on the BitTorrent set of commands or protocols. It is currently the sixth most popular torrent site in the world. For e-book lovers, this is a paradise. Sample copies, new versions, old versions, blueprints etc. can be found very easily on this website.
You just need to create an outline for the book to follow, set a schedule for when you’re going to write (if it’s original work) or when you’re going to work on it, how you will market the book and when each task needs to be done, and set a goal publication date when it will be offered on sale. It’s a matter of setting aside time each day. You can’t just work on this when you “feel” like it… otherwise, it’ll never get done.
Another comprehensive service to host your ebooks and it does all the hard work of selling them for you. You can create a sales page for your ebooks and use power tools like multiple payments support, affiliate programs, protected storage, discount offers, manage inventory, create packages, Google Analytics and more. E-Junkie charges fixed monthly payment based on your needs.
Indeed, it’s pretty confusing out there. Rogue Reader is a new model of publishing, what I generally call partnership publishing. You don’t pay to get published, nor do they pay you an advance. It’s a profit-share model, and they invest in things like editing, design, etc. But like a traditional publisher, you still have to get your work accepted, and their selectivity, from what I hear, is on the same level as trying to gain acceptance by an agent or Big Five house.
The Pirate Bay is the probably only torrent site which is around for a while. It is one of the best portals for torrent seekers in multiple categories such as movies, videos, application, games, eBooks, etc. Within a few minutes of surfing, you will get to know that it has a massive collection of eBook torrents from multi disciple such as foods, homebuilding, fiction, automobiles and several others.
However, at times it gets blocked in many countries and running it through the proxy, as it is the only option you get left with. I decided to include this site on the list because you can search for almost anything, as it gives a list of many torrent sites that has the searched item. So there is a real passivity that you will find the EBook you’re searching.

Free Read Feed (UK) has over 5,000 free ebook listings from Amazon (UK).  They monitor recent free offerings as well as showing some that are always free.  Like their USA counterpart below, the site offers sorting by genre, time offered, length and popularity.  This link is to the Children's Non-Fiction, Children's Fiction and Children and Teens genre listings.
That’s tough because a book that is priced at $10 has to deliver 10 times the value than a book that is $0.99. Honestly, when it comes to pricing, I say go with your gut feeling. To me, it wasn’t about the money but more about getting my writing and ideas out there. It was my first eBook so I wanted to be fair and I wanted to test the waters. I could have put this as a newsletter subscription to my blog, but I wanted to experiment with different avenues.
"Extratorrent.cc is a good site for downloading ebooks, as well as music, movies, etc. On the very first page it will list for you all most popular downloads. Then if you look under the category Books there are thousands and thousands of torrents, something for everyone no matter your interest. Just be sure to use a VPN to protect your privacy and security."
Thank you for a well-written and well-formatted post. I’ve tried to scan all 182 comments and answers (!) but forgive me if this has already been addressed… I’m going to publish with KDP then opt-out @ 90 days so I can sell via my own site. I believe Word play better than Pages with KDP due to conversion issues to .mobi. My content will consist of stories, photographs and recipes – so I anticipate formatting nightmares.

If you’re writing non-fiction with images, really consider whether you need them and whether they are critical to the reader’s experience. Authors can get romantically attached to images that actually might not be needed. It could be better to put your images on your website and include links within your books. This will get people over to your website, where they could potentially sign up for your email list. You could also put the images on a Pinterest board for social media sharing and use them for marketing.
For downloading e-books or any torrents you need a torrent client from which you can download your files. You can visit your mobile app store and search for ‘bittorrent’ or ‘uTorrent’ to download your torrent client. In case you need a torrent client for your PC visit bit torrent [https://www.bittorrent.com/downloads] or download any of your favorite torrent clients.
I’m working on my second ebook and have recently started using Jutoh as the means of auto-creating ebooks for multiple formats. It has a learning curve, but is really good for moving chapters and sections around (which requires a different TOC, which is automatic in Jutoh), automating cover creation, internal and external links, fixing formatting issues, and auto-compiling and producing books for multiple formats – Kindle, Nook, iPad, others. Worth a look. A bargain at $38. There is a free trial copy.

Verify your publishing territories. If you are self-publishing and you hold all the rights, you just click, “Worldwide.” If you are already traditionally published, you may own rights in other territories. For example, say you published with a publisher in the US and sold only the US rights, you could self-publish in the UK or Australia or any other country. You can select individual territories and deselect the ones that you have sold to someone else.
Set your pricing. Most of the stores have country-specific pricing and it's well worth setting these individually instead of relying on an automatic exchange rate calculation. For example, if you price at US$4.99 and just leave it to automatically calculate for GBP, then readers in the UK might see £3.21, which is an odd price. It's best to change the UK price to £2.99 or £3.49 which is a price readers are more used to seeing. Amazon has specific price bands for royalties, so you need to price between $2.99 and $9.99, if you want 70% royalty. If you're pricing below or above that, then it's 35%. If you're in KDP Select, it doesn't make so much of a difference, because you'll get paid per page read.
If you want to sell an ebook seamlessly on your website you can use eJunkie.com which will handle all of your payment processing and digital delivery very cheaply! They also have a marketplace where your ebook is featured. After a successful sale on your blog or website, Paypal will send the purchaser to your landing page where the download link is located – you can upsell the purchaser on this page or use it get get them onto your mailing list – show them videos, or give them free bonuses, ask them to follow you on Twitter or Facebook, etc. Hope this helps!
