Coming from the music industry (and I know you know a little about that topic), they were quite certain the CD would live forever and they could just continue to reap their profits off the backs of the artists. But the same recording and distribution technology that became available and affordable to the lay person, which created the DIY music artist and forshadowed the death of the music biz is we knew it, is about to do the same to the conventional book publishing biz.
NOOK Press is the e-book platform from Barnes and Noble and its e-books are available for sale in the United States and the United Kingdom through BN.com, NOOK.co.uk, NOOK Reading devices, and NOOK apps. Launched in 2013 as an upgraded and rebranded version of PubIt!, NOOK Press offers a free, simple interface that makes it easy for authors to convert, upload and edit their work. Nook offers two royalty levels based on list price: With a list price between $2.99 and $9.99 royalties are 65%. With a list price below $2.98 or greater than $10.00 (but not more than $199.99 and not less than $0.99) royalties are just 40% which is just a bit higher than Amazon’s 35% for the same price range. There are no deductions for delivery fees. Nook Press offers “Live Chat” support services as well as a collaborative social networking option (similar to Wattpad or Scribd) that allows authors to work together and comment on or edit one another’s work.
As for the Kindle, well, Smashwords says it's still waiting for Amazon to update its KDP intake systems so it automatically can ingest Smashwords titles as other retailers do (the 200 or so titles that Smashwords has loaded into KDP have been loaded manually). Amazon encourages authors to upload directly through KDP, so I wouldn't count on this happening anytime soon.
VPNs encrypt your connection and reroute it through their servers, making it virtually untraceable and keeping you safe. It will be very hard, if not impossible, for anyone to keep track of what and when you download – and this extends to all of your other online activity, too. Just make sure your VPN has top-shelf encryption and a proven no-logging policy.

1. I don’t know how much it would exactly cost. I paid roughly $100 to the company that I mentioned, 52novels, and they formatted the eBook for me in both Amazon format and ePub. With that, you can publish very easily. You fill in all the data about your book, the keywords, title, etc., and then you simply upload the file you were given. Then you set the pricing. Then you’re finished. Maybe try the website smashwords; I’m not too familiar with them but I know they have a service that helps you upload your eBook to various places.

eBookShare is among the best eBook torrenting sites in the market. It helps you read the description and know more about the torrent eBook you have downloaded just now. Be it the author or title or the subject of the eBook, you can seamlessly enjoy reading the favorite pick, without any fuss or hassle. A VPN connection is reliable to use this website. This is because, the portal obeys DMCA notion strictly.

It all depends on what you’re knowledgable in. If you’re writing about a specific craft that you’re well-versed in, your blog is used to educate your audience on useful tips and insights that you learned and used through your own experiences. For example, Copyblogger provides insight on publishing, writing, blogging, marketing, and so forth. Their product varies from WordPress themes and tools used within.

1337X is one among the eBook torrenting websites that allows you for downloading eBook torrents for free. When you sign up for free, it actually provides you with magnet links and works as a torrent indexing website. Using this peer-to-peer file hosting service you can access data from sites such as eDonkey, Bittorrent, IPFU, ZeroNet, Retroshare etc. The protocols for 1337X are similar to that of Bittorrent. In spite of having a vast range of opportunities for you, this eBook torrenting download platform is not searchable on Google.

To the best of my knowledge all of the websites listed here offer only content that they are legally entitled to transfer to you and safe for downloads. If you find a site listed here that you know illegally offers copyrighted material or if you ever encounter malware on any of these sites, please report below with a link to the infringing content.
BookBaby. BookBaby publishes and distributes ebooks to Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Sony, and Apple. BookBaby offers a variety of services such as format conversion, cover design, and even custom book printing. BookBaby’s basic package is $99, plus $19 annual fee after the first year. The author retains 100 percent of royalties from online retail stores. Payments are weekly.
Copying data is not stealing, as the owner of the original data gets to keep it. Sharing is caring. There are still ways to provide something back to a community, by uploading and sharing more rather than selfishly leeching and hoarding. You’re the type of person that encourages private art galleries and exclusive gigs and concerts only wealthy elites can afford to attend. Long live the freedom of information and the ability to share ones and zeros how we please.
One of the ways we have built our blog up to reaching 111 countries and 60,000 hits between our 2 sites is to leave the article hanging when we write it.. they read the article and get the gist but we leave it open on the end. The rest will be in the upcoming book. I don’t know if we have enough to publish yet in interest what do you think? I found it interesting that men don’t come into our tipsforlove.net site but they will come in and read the same articles on my projecttroops.org site. It’s macho and means it ok to read..but tipsforlove? I think they think it’s to female oriented to read. This is important to know if starting a blog.. will you get the readers in with your title? Thanks Tamra Lynn Smith and best of luck to you all.
The PRO version of this very good torrent client for Mac OS X allows you to easily find the torrent content directly in the app. Browsing multiple torrent trackers won’t be something you need to worry about with the Pro version. Simply input your search words in Folx, and it will go search all the torrent trackers, displaying only the relevant ones for you to download.
The prefix “wiki” has perhaps already gotten your interest peaked. While Wikibooks doesn’t really have anything to do with Wikipedia, it does have a large database of books under its umbrella for you to enjoy. What’s unique about this source is that you can get e-books in several languages including Dutch, English, Italian, French, Spanish, Portuguese, and Polish. You first have to pick a language and then type in the title you’re trying to find.
Lindy Gordon is living the enviable life of an entrepreneur in San Francisco. Her public relations firm is thriving, her marriage is strong and her apartment at the top of Noe Valley is the envy of her friends. Then the unthinkable happens. An accident briefly ends her life, leaving her with a scar, cracked bones and fractured images that make no...
Beyond the excellence of the content itself, it’s going to be all about how well you market that eBook and get the word out that will determine if it gets its day in the digital sun. Speaking of Sean Platt, I’m working on something with his company that may well address how to help with that promotion (but can’t disclose this yet as it’s being built ; -). Promise to let all your readers know when that happens.

My first eBook did okay (as a Kindle product), but I won’t go that route next time – I’ll sell it as a PDF on website. I know, I’m missing out on tons of customers – but Amazon just irritates me. Plus, if you get some troll who badmouths your book (I had dozens of 5-star reviews and one 2-star by a psycho who never actually read the book), Amazon won’t do anything about the bogus review. Disappointing service from Amazon all round, I’m afraid.

Great post. I think for eBook authors outside of the US, though, Amazon is just a pain. Firstly, they take months to pay. Secondly, they actually send a physical paper check all the way across the ocean (I live in Australia) instead of just paying by PayPal. It’s very 1970s, and irritating. So if you get a payment of $20, you have to pay a currency conversion fee of $10 at the bank here, so you only get half your money.

Book release option. Do you want to publish now or have the book up for pre-order? Pre-orders are especially good for books in a series, as readers are often ready to order the next one as they finish the one before. You can set them up to a year in advance on iBooks and Kobo and 3 months on Amazon. On iBooks, you get sales rankings for the pre-order period and for the actual sales day, so it's well worth doing it there. For Amazon, you spread your sales over the pre-order period, so you'll need to weigh up what's best for your book. If you don't want to do a pre-order, just select “I am ready to release my book now.”
I begin with one caveat: The whole e-book market is rapidly evolving, and a lot of self-publishing companies are offering e-book deals bundled into their print book publishing packages, which makes them harder to break out and evaluate. It's all quite complicated, and in an effort to sort through the confusion, I've decided to offer a few basic tips and present what I think are some of the best options out there for creating an e-book quickly and easily. As things change -- and they will -- I'll do my best to keep this column up to date.
It is free to self-publish on the most popular ebook platforms. Obviously, you have to pay upfront for editing and cover design but the actual publishing is free and the stores take a small percentage of sales. Compared to most other business models, publishing in this digital age has low overheads, low entry costs and potentially a high margin of return.
Verify your publishing territories. If you are self-publishing and you hold all the rights, you just click, “Worldwide.” If you are already traditionally published, you may own rights in other territories. For example, say you published with a publisher in the US and sold only the US rights, you could self-publish in the UK or Australia or any other country. You can select individual territories and deselect the ones that you have sold to someone else.
Speakaboos has what appears to be a large collection of free stories for reading and listening online.  All are in a flash player.  The site is very slow to load pages.  Each of the images on the page linked seems to lead to at least 4 stories each and the images on the bottom half circle also lead to addtional free stories (the ones I check all were accompanied by songs.  Geared to younger children.
Thanks for that Kristen, I’m going to look into that myself. And also interesting point when you said, “fiction are the most landed genre.” I thought about that myself because I haven’t gotten one borrow yet. Also my eBook is short so it may not be necessary, and most books allow the preview of the first few chapters. Thanks for this added insight.

BookBaby offers global distribution to the major e-book retailers including Amazon, Kobo, Nook, and iBookstore. With three publishing packages to choose from, authors can supply their own e-pub file for free or opt to pay $99 for the conversion. Royalties are 85% of net for the free and standard packages and 100% of net with the premium package ($249). All packages include access to the company’s Book Promo program, which includes a social media marketing guide, coupons for book trailer production companies and publicity services, and “guaranteed book reviews.” A great feature is the free “BookShop” page, which includes information about the author’s book and buy buttons for the various retailers. BookBaby can assign e-book ISBNs for $19. E-books take from five to 10 days from upload to appearing in stores, depending on whether the author supplied a file that needed conversion. BookBaby also offers basic cover design for $149 and deluxe cover design for $279. Once authors have published their books they will incur a fee for any subsequent changes to the text (10 changes costs $50, for example). Like Kobo and KDP, BookBaby offers authors additional marketing opportunities to promote and sell their work.
Vintage Cookbooks includes in their collection of vintage cookbooks a collection of vintage cookbooks from the late 1800s to 1950s for children.  These will popup in an online reader, but if you look on the upper left of the reader, there is a link to OPen Library where the book may be downloaded in a wide variety of ebook formats.  No registration needed.
I talked to Amazon who told me you can have your books on your website while in the Select Program only if you are in their affiliate program and the book is available via one of their book widgets or a text link generated by their affiliate program. So you can have them on your website or link to them in articles, ect., as long as the links are part of the Amazon Associates Program. Hope that helps!
I’m working on my second ebook and have recently started using Jutoh as the means of auto-creating ebooks for multiple formats. It has a learning curve, but is really good for moving chapters and sections around (which requires a different TOC, which is automatic in Jutoh), automating cover creation, internal and external links, fixing formatting issues, and auto-compiling and producing books for multiple formats – Kindle, Nook, iPad, others. Worth a look. A bargain at $38. There is a free trial copy.
Smashwords is one of the world’s largest distributors of indie e-books with distribution to retailers like Kobo, iBookstore, Nook, and, just recently, Scribd. The company does not currently distribute to Amazon. The advantage to using a distributor is that it saves authors from having to upload their book with each retailer separately. Smashwords also offers consolidated sales reports, which allow authors access the sales information from various retailers all in one place. Smashwords offers royalties of 60% of list price from major e-book retailers and 85% net from sales directly from Smashwords with some exceptions. The company offers global distribution in 51 countries. It offers free conversion to various e-pub formats from a Word doc but requires authors to format the pre-conversion document themselves. It offers a free style guide for this purpose or it will provide a list of recommended e-book formatters who charge a small fee. Authors have the option of selecting a free sample section of their book for readers to give their book a test drive before deciding to purchase. Smashwords also offers a free marketing guide by the founder of the company that includes 41 marketing tips.
FreeBookSpot is another torrent site that caters specifically to e-book consumers. It has over 90 categories belonging to a horde of genres including engineering, fiction, architecture, astronomy, audio books, computers, DIY, hardware, graphics, psychology, etc. Though it does have a decent catalogue of fiction titles, it is more popular for non-fiction and educational books. You can browse by genres or other sub-categories such as “Wanted”, “Expired”, “Most Popular”, and “Selections”. They do have an option for registering yourself as a user but that’s not mandatory to get access to the content. Aside from downloading e-books, you could even share your e-books and receive feedback from fellow users.

A lot of people ask me about creating children's books or other types of graphically rich books and e-books. I can't say I'm an expert in this area, but when you're dealing with graphics and images, the self-publishing equation becomes more difficult and expensive (formatting costs tend to go up as you add more images). However, Apple's trying to change all that with iBooks Author, which allows you to build multitouch interactive e-books that you can upload and sell in the iBookstore and view in the iBooks2 app on the iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch.
I published my ebook . Write Like You Talk–Only Better, through both Kindle and Smashwords, because I wanted to make sure it was easy to download for all e-readers. They convert to all formats and distribute at no charge, though they do take a slice of the revenues, like Amazon does. I was also be offer free downloads, which are resulting in more reviews.
Kobo and Apple iBooks both have the capability to schedule pricing promotions so you can set and forget and the price will revert after a discount period. With Amazon, you have to change it to the discount price and then go back in and change it back after the discount period is over, unless you're in KDP Select (exclusive) when you can schedule the promotion.
According to the official Epubsoft EBook Converter website, you can easily convert more than 50 eBooks at an instance. Also, this software is compatible with Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, 10 and later versions. With all these features, you may be wondering whether Epubsoft EBook Converter is free: this software is available at a price of $39.99 but can download a free trial here.
Free Read Feed (UK) has over 5,000 free ebook listings from Amazon (UK).  They monitor recent free offerings as well as showing some that are always free.  Like their USA counterpart below, the site offers sorting by genre, time offered, length and popularity.  This link is to the Children's Non-Fiction, Children's Fiction and Children and Teens genre listings.
We have received reports that OneDrive is no longer working as expected. This is one of the cloud storage options on eBook download pages. Because this is unlikely to be fixed soon, please consider direct downloads (i.e., "Save as..." to store eBook files on your own computer). For mobile devices and ereaders, try side-loading as described in our mobile reader how-to.
Ebooks are, well, books. But in a format where they can be delivered or downloaded online. You can write them yourself, employ writers, use public domain content, and create your ebooks from many sources. And just about any subject can be covered — just as many, if not more, than what a traditional publisher might release because you can tailor your tomes to niche markets. Travel guides, how-to manuals, mystery, romance, science fiction, self-help, technology, religions… just about any subject is fair game as long as there is a market of ready buyers.
Your timing is impeccable on this one as I’m working on completing my first eBook. And there’s so much that goes into just WRITING it, let alone the formatting, marketing, sales funnel angles, etc. Who can know it all? And what’s the point of all that hard work writing it if no one hears your “one hand clapping” in the digital woods? So thank you for this.
Working with ebook distribution services usually means giving up a percentage of your profits to the distributor, in exchange for the centralized administration and management of all your titles. Some ebook distributors can also reach outlets you can’t on your own, such as the library market, and may offer you helpful tools to optimize book sales and marketing.

This is one of the best sites in ebook torrents category. Here not only you can download ebooks at free, but before downloading them you can all read the description of the ebook torrents. Now do a better eBook torrent search here and find out loved one easily. You can also search at this website by the name of the author, title and subject related to the ebook.

Great to see you here and awesome post. A great mix of the high level and details. Great timing too as I’m debating whether to convert my amazon book to kindle and also planning on writing a new one for kindle. I’m going to come back to read the comments because I see that there’s a lot of great info in there as well. Thanks again for the great post!
EZTV is the same torrent website like other which share peer to peer transfer of file using BitTorrent protocol or set of rules and commands. If you find best ebooks then don’t forget to check this website. this website is the heaven of E-books. You will get different types of material within a single roof. Since this is a torrent website, registration is not mandatory, but the registered user has certain privileges. This website works very fast on content and is thus a reliable source.
Smashwords offers a free style guide for formatting your e-book. Although Smashwords encourages authors to keep things simple, you can still create a professional-quality e-book with Smashwords that includes a linked table of contents, NCX navigation, and custom paragraph styling. A couple of years ago, I created an acceptable-looking e-book in about 30 minutes after making some tweaks (usually they involve spacing between chapter breaks) and reprocessing my file three times. If you follow Smashwords' guidelines, you can end up with a professional-quality "reflowable" e-book that looks as good as what many of the big publishers are putting out and reads well on any screen size.
It’s too expensive. At $36, it offers great value given all the stuff I packed into it, but people are used to paying less for ebooks. Even worse, by blowing out all my info in one book, I had no followup book to upsell the writers who bought the first book. I wasn’t creating a sales machine, like you want. I just had a one-off product. Again, I probably would have done better publishing a smaller ebook at a lower price.
Just a few short years ago, the people who were most familiar with the ebook format were either internet marketers or their regular customers. It was a limited audience in many respects. Now, the general public knows what an ebook is and may be interested in having/buying it. Pricing is a lot lower because they’re now usually compared to print minus printing costs, but the audience is much much bigger I think.
The timing may not be idle for the website, but entering the top ten is a big achievement is many ways. Isohunt boasts a decent amount of EBooks, for casual and as well as serious readers. However, due to the site being blocked over many counties, questions arise about the future of the torrent site. Looking for the proxy is always a good option. So grab your favorite books here.

Most of the aggregators offer various services other than ebook distribution and aggregation such as ebook conversion, cover design, editing and some even have print-on-demand services. They can also provide help with ISBN acquisition, copyrighting and tracking user payments. However, their primary focus is on distributing content to more than just one store. An aggregator helps authors and publishers reach the stores globally with their ebooks. As an ebook aggregator, PublishDrive delivers ebooks to iBooks, GooglePlay, Amazon Kindle, Scribd, OverDrive and 400+ stores and 240k libraries in US, China, India, Europe and over 100 countries. You may already know of this site: The University of Virgina has a VERY OLD, and now abandoned in place, library of selected Hypertexts ... a few of which are good reads. The link is old, and very obscure: I saw some DUST fall off when I first clicked on it! http://xroads.virginia.edu/~HYPER/main.html (Darn I hate to see a project RUSTING in cyberspace like this .... :( ) When WAS that page last updated, anyway? I suspect it originated about the era of Windows 3.1 ~~~~~ 'cause that URL is very 'DOS like' ....
