Both in terms of the quality of the collection and the variety in its library, this site is absolutely at par with any of the sites mentioned above. The best part about this site is the simple and user-friendly interface that makes it easier for the users to explore the books of their choice. Exploring the books of your choice, no matter you are looking for genres like science fiction, lifestyle, Business, Health & wellness, or books on any other topics, requires the minimum effort and time, and you would neither need to comply with any registration formalities or paying a penny as registration fee. Hence, once you are on this site, you are just on the verge of a comprehensive knowledge base.
It’s too expensive. At $36, it offers great value given all the stuff I packed into it, but people are used to paying less for ebooks. Even worse, by blowing out all my info in one book, I had no followup book to upsell the writers who bought the first book. I wasn’t creating a sales machine, like you want. I just had a one-off product. Again, I probably would have done better publishing a smaller ebook at a lower price.
Thank you, Jane, for such a prompt reply. And, well, if that’s true about Rogue (as it seems it might be), then, with the kind of work I’ve written, that puts me back to Square One. My reasoning was taken from an article by a Writer’s Digest article I saw from June of this year by Brian Klems entitled “How Can the Average Writer Make Money Self-publishing Ebooks.” The link is: http://www.writersdigest.com/online-editor/how-can-the-average-writer-make-money-self-publishing-e-books He said this re: Rogue Reader/MTM: “• Rogue Pricing. You have about three months to promote a new print book (paper back or hardcover) before the bookstores clear their shelves for the next bestseller. But if you can rack up enough pre-orders BEFORE the pub date, then you can kickstart your book launch. Once it hits the New York Times or other lists, then a couple of weeks on those lists become a self-fulfilling prophecy. Again: the more time you give your book to be listed on Amazon and other online retailers BEFORE your publication date, the better.

This design-oriented digital and print publisher distributes across all the major e-book retailers as well as the Vook bookstore. Vook provides free ISBNS although its publishing packages are among the most expensive in the marketplace. Authors can publish their e-books starting at $299 with add-on services like marketing consultations or copyediting available. The basic package includes conversion from most file formats to an e-pub file, two free previews and rounds of revisions, daily sales tracking, an optional (very basic) free cover design, and the ability to include up to 10 images and three audio/visual clips in the text. Additional changes after publication will incur a fee determined by the production coordinator. Authors can track the sales of just one book for free and additional books for a $9.99 monthly fee. Authors can run price promotions and have the ability to offer the book for free. Vook takes 15% of revenue from titles sold in its storefront.
In Dec 2014, a law was brought in across the EU that meant sales of digital products, including ebooks, would now be subject to Value Added Tax based on the country of the customer, not the supplier. The law was aimed at stopping companies like Amazon, Google and Apple from situating their companies in countries with specific tax breaks to lower their tax in other countries. But of course, it hit every author and small business selling digitally. This tax is now spreading to other countries, so we can assume it will be part of the global digital marketplace going forward.

Coming from the music industry (and I know you know a little about that topic), they were quite certain the CD would live forever and they could just continue to reap their profits off the backs of the artists. But the same recording and distribution technology that became available and affordable to the lay person, which created the DIY music artist and forshadowed the death of the music biz is we knew it, is about to do the same to the conventional book publishing biz.

'The Book-hunter in London' is the outcome not only of material which has been accumulating for many years past, from published and unpublished sources, but also of a long and pleasant intercourse with the leading book-collectors and booksellers in London, not to mention a vigorous and constant prosecution of one of the most pleasant and instructive of hobbies. The author has freely availed himself of the information in the works of Dibdin, Nichols, and other writers on the subject, but their statements have been verified whenever possible, and acknowledgements have been made in the proper places to the authorities laid under contribution. "Planet eBook is great if you are looking for free eBooks that are in the genre of classic literature. Books like "The Great Gatsby" and "A Tale of Two Cities". This website makes it easy to find and download these titles. There are 80+ titles available which is decent but nowhere near what Amazon has to offer in this category. I personally have found it easier to just use Amazon with my Kindle for free classic literature titles."
Generally speaking, if a company charges you for publishing your book and is fairly vague about what they are spending your money on, be alert. Once you sign your rights away, it is difficult to get them back. Other than vanity publishers, there are several companies that act as retailers and distributors and offer some publishing services (conversion or editing) as well. There are some things you’ll need to consider before signing up anywhere:
Trafford offers e-book conversion and distribution as part of its standard print publishing package. E-books are automatically priced at $3.99 and royalties are 50% of net. Full distribution takes about 4 weeks from time of upload and e-books are available on Amazon Kindle, Sony Reader, Nook, and Scribd, as well as in the Trafford bookstore. Considering that the basic print package runs $549, along with the lower e-book royalty rate compared to other publishers, this would be an option for authors whose primary concern is a print edition.
I wish to make this VERY clear ... we have NEVER nor will we EVER partake in the practice of SPAM. I personally spend nearly two hours (and that number is rising as our sites become more popular) eradicating SPAM comments and form responses each and every morning. It is not a fun endeavor, I assure you, and not one we would ever subject any other webmaster to. I own the ONLY hotzippy email address, so no emails could ever have come from our network that would have constituted itself as SPAM. In fact, the only unsolicited email I have ever sent from that account is to the above poster.
